Bishnoi Village Safari Jodhpur | Official Wildlife & Cultural Tours
Ditch the restaurants for a 100% organic, wood-fired meal in a local Bishnoi home. Authentic, healthy, and hand-cooked with love. This is the flavor of Rajasthan.
Forget the commercial buffets of Jodhpur city. The real taste of the Thar Desert isn’t found in luxury hotels; it is found in the humble kitchens of the Bishnoi village. Our Traditional Village Lunch is a 100% organic, farm-to-table experience that has remained unchanged for centuries.
When you sit down for a meal at the home of Bhagirath Bishnoi, you aren’t just eating food—you are consuming the history, the health, and the hospitality of the desert.
Every ingredient used in your lunch is grown right here in our village fields. We use no chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
Pure Soil: Our crops are nourished by traditional organic manure, ensuring the highest nutrient content.
Hand-Processed: The grains are cleaned by hand, and the spices are ground using a manual stone mortar and pestle (Sil-Batta) to retain their natural oils and aroma.
The secret to the incredible flavor of our food is the Chulha—a traditional clay stove fueled by sun-dried wood or cow-dung cakes.
The Smokey Flavor: Cooking on a slow wood fire gives the food a distinct smoky depth that gas stoves simply cannot replicate.
Health Benefits: Clay-pot cooking preserves the moisture and nutrients of the vegetables, making the meal easy to digest and incredibly healthy.
Our menu is a seasonal celebration of desert life. Here is what you can typically expect:
Bajre ki Roti (Pearl Millet Flatbread): The staple of the desert. These thick, gluten-free rotis are patted by hand and roasted on the Chulha until they are crispy on the outside and soft inside.
Ker Sangri: The legendary desert bean and berry dish. Grown on the Khejri tree, this is a spicy, tangy delicacy unique to Rajasthan.
Desi Ghee & Gud (Jaggery): We serve our rotis with a generous dollop of fresh, hand-churned cow ghee and organic jaggery for that perfect energy boost.
Lahsun ki Chutney: A fiery garlic and red chili paste ground on stone, adding a bold kick to the meal.
Kadhi & Khichdi: A comforting blend of buttermilk-based curry and nutritious millet porridge.
Fresh Chaas (Buttermilk): Churned fresh every morning, our buttermilk is seasoned with roasted cumin and rock salt to keep you cool in the desert heat.
In a Bishnoi home, eating is a sacred act.
Traditional Seating: You will sit on the floor or on a low wooden stool (Patla), which is the most ergonomic way to enjoy a meal.
Eco-Friendly: We avoid plastic. Your meal is often served in traditional brass or steel thalis, or even on eco-friendly leaf plates.
Personal Stories: While you eat, Bhagirath Ji or the family members will share stories about the origin of these dishes and the “Food as Medicine” philosophy of the 29 Principles.
Don’t just visit the village; experience it with the people who call it home.
Unlike other agencies run by outsiders, our founder Bhagirath is a native Bishnoi from the local village. We don’t just “show” the culture; we live it every day.
Bhagirath Ji was one of the first to introduce authentic village tourism in Jodhpur. Our routes are exclusive and away from the crowded “tourist traps.”
We provide an insider’s perspective on the 29 religious principles of the Bishnoi sect. Learn the true history of the Khejri tree martyrs from those who carry their bloodline.
Because we live here, we know the exact movement of Blackbucks and Chinkaras. Our 4×4 Jeeps take you to the most silent, hidden spots for the perfect photograph.
Since you are booking directly with the village owners (Bishnoi Village Safari Jodhpur), you get the best rates without paying commission to city travel agents.
Your visit directly benefits the village economy. We take you to real family workshops of potters and weavers, ensuring your tourism is sustainable and ethical.
